After homeschooling my own four kids into college, it was my turn to decide what I wanted to be when I grow up!
Cross Academy was founded out of my love for teaching children. For 25 years I have enjoyed teaching, most recently the last 15 years in the homeschooling community both as a parent at home and in a local co-op.
I believe science should be experienced rather than just read about, therefore I choose to teach sciences with a hands-on approach. One of the most enjoyable parts of teaching for me is watching a student when they have that “ah-ha” moment of finally understanding the world around them. It is my personal belief education is more fulfilling when a student is being taught to, rather than led through a curriculum, so I teach to the child, not the curriculum.
Cross Academy Home:
Jennifer (AKA Mrs. Cross) has taught my kids for over 12 years! She is THE favorite teacher. She can make any subject exciting and fun to learn about.
Jennifer is one of those rare teachers who are able to make any subject come alive in such a way that students often don’t realize how much they are learning. She focuses on subject comprehension by engaging each student on his or her level and instills an overall love for learning by making learning fun. Over the years, my 4 boys have had the privilege of being in a variety of Jennifer’s classes and came out of each one excited about what they had learned.
Our family was ‘over the moon’ excited to see Jennifer offer these science classes. My husband and I immediately enrolled our boys. We didn’t even hesitate to enroll my son with severe reading & learning delays as we know, without a doubt, that under Jennifer’s teaching, he will be challenged, stretched and encouraged in a safe environment—all while getting a rock solid foundation in science. Thanks to Jennifer, my boys are looking forward to an amazing year of science!
Jennifer is an asset to the homeschool community. Her enthusiasm for teaching and her ability to think outside the box make her an ideal partner in learning. She goes out of her way to make the learning experience meaningful and memorable for each individual student and they love her for it! She makes learning fun for students and her support is invaluable to parents.
